Mildred Marie Russell, 93, of Linn Valley, Kan., died on Saturday, May 14, 2016, after a long illness. Mildred was born May 12, 1923, in Winchester, Ky., to Richard H. and Mildred (Kahre) Spencer.

She graduated from Evansville (Ind.) High School and went to work at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, Mexico, at the tender age of 19. Mildred was a Spanish language interpreter for the court system until age 70. She was a hard worker with a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed building crossword puzzles.

Mildred married Milenko Tomich and they had two children, Cynthia and Charlotte. She later married Pled Russell and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Charlotte Fay.

She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Sheafer of Linn Valley; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Mildred chose to have her body donated to science. The family will hold a memorial picnic at a later date to celebrate Mildred’s life.

Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.
