Mildred Perkins, age 101, La Cygne, Kan., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Louisburg Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on Oct. 10, 1914, the daughter of William and Noma Gilmore Umphenour.
She worked in housekeeping at the Olathe Hospital before retiring.
She was married to James Perkins who preceded her in death in August 1970. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Naoma Morrison; a granddaughter Sherry; two brothers Lee and Eugene Umphenour; and three sisters Ella Holsman, Margie Black and Betty Johnson.
Mildred was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, La Cygne Christian Church and the Star Valley Club.
She is survived by a son Chuck Perkins and wife, Pam; two daughters Pat Berglund and husband, Dave, and Janet Cook and husband, Martin; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to service time at the Chapel. The family suggests contributions to Thayer Park or La Cygne Senior Citizens. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.
