Mona Sue Sadler, 72, of Olathe, Kan., died at 6:35 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at the Olathe Hospice House after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Mona was born south of Kincaid, Kan., on Jan. 27, 1944, to Gene Ira and Reitha L. (Kastl) Sutterby.

Mona attended schools in Kincaid and graduated from Colony High School. She was a past-member of Kincaid Baptist Church and was currently an active member of Mid-America Nazarene Church in Olathe. Mona was a self-employed bookkeeper. Mona enjoyed creating beautiful items using many mediums and could often be found learning a new skill. She was a gifted seamstress and made many family wedding gowns.

On Dec. 4, 1971, she married Carl R. Sadler in Olathe, Kan.

Survivors include one son Scott Sadler, Liberty, Mo.; one daughter Pam Gray and her husband, Pat, Clinton, Mo.; two brothers Steven Sutterby and his wife, Mel, Louisburg, Kan., and David Sutterby and his wife, Betty, Spring Hill, Kan.; five grandchildren Michael Munsch, Sonja Summers, Justin Summers, Adam Sadler and Sophia Potts; five great-grandchildren Merrik and Mason Munsch, Harrison and Stefan Guzman, and Layden Summers; one nephew; two nieces; eight great-nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

 

The service was Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial took place in Sunny Slope Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kan. The family suggests memorials to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in memory of Mona. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
