Monty Ray Maus, age 60, Wheatland, Mo., formerly of Pleasanton, Kan., passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024. He was born on June 2, 1964, in Independence, Mo., the son of Raymond and Lovell Vogt Maus. He was united in marriage to Linda Hayes on Nov. 9, 2002.

Monty worked as an I T Director for Ascend Media. He then ranched in the Pleasanton area. Most recently, he and Linda ran Stillwater Resort. He took great pride in making sure everything was up to par at this fishing resort. His faith in God and relationship with Jesus was first in Monty’s life followed by his family, especially being “Pappy” to his grandchildren. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, and just about anything that had to do with water. He liked good coffee and could grill and smoke meat with the best of them.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond; a son, Jacob Maus; and stepfather, Ross Cossins. Monty is survived by his wife, Linda; four daughters, Jessica Barningham, Savannah Martin, Harley Kapp, and Aurora Maus; mother, Lovell Cossins; two sisters, Rashell Sabaugh, and Debbie Dehmer; and six grandchildren, Saloan, Skeeter, Parker, Todd, Junebug, and Sabrina.

Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at the Highpoint Events & Suites, 9235 Wattles Road, Pleasanton, Kan. 66075.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in Terrace Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Monty Maus Memorial Fund, c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Box 525, Pleasanton, Kan. 66075.
