Myrtle Maude Wood, 90, a longtime resident of Prescott, Kan., passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. She was born Dec. 19, 1927 in Prescott, the daughter of Orville D. and Villa F. Davis Mayhugh.
She married Daniel J. (D.J./Jim) Wood on Dec. 14, 1946.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband and daughter Patricia Wood; two brothers, Orville Mayhugh and Wesley Mayhugh; and two sisters, Elda Fletcher and Dorothy Heitz.
Maude is survived by three sons, Dannie Wood and wife Phronsie, Independence, Mo., Mike Wood and wife Sherry, Kansas City, Mo., and Dennis Wood and wife Lavera, Spring Hill, Kan.; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren: grandson Michael Wood and wife Paula, Lees Summit, Mo., great grandson Anthony Vardaman and great granddaughter Cheyanne Wood, granddaughter Melissa Garnica and husband Luis, Tyler, Texas, two great granddaughters, Paige Canino and Peyton Garnica, granddaughter Heather Van Hoecke and husband Kyle, Overland Park, Kan., great grandson Liam Van Hoecke, and granddaughter Katie Wood and fiancé Monish Prabhakar, San Francisco, Calif.
She worked at the Prescott Country View Nursing Home for many years and was a member of the Prescott Senior Citizens and United Methodist Church. She had just received her 60-year pin from the Order of Eastern Star.
Visitation will be from 5 -7 p.m. Wednesday July 18, 2018, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Prescott Methodist Church with interment in the Prescott Cemetery.
