Nicholas “Nick” Andrew Metcalf, age 44, of Pleasanton, Kan., died as a result of an accident on Oct. 15, 2023, in Sonora, Ky.
He was born the son of John and Margaret Myers Metcalf on July 25, 1979, in Fort Scott, Kan. Nick was a graduate of Jayhawk-Linn High School and was a union carpenter by trade. He enjoyed cutting wood, building birdhouses and feeders, fishing and camping. Nick also enjoyed collecting; he had a huge collection of cigarette lighters, and was an avid collector of Marvel Comic and Star Wars merchandise.
Nick leaves behind his parents; his loving wife, Melanie Staton; a son, Gabriel John Metcalf; a daughter, Manon Turpen; and three sisters, Sherri Jackson, Hope Peterson and Debby McMaster.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. to service time. Burial followed in the Woodland Cemetery.
