Norma Jane Long, age 71, of Pleasanton, Kan., passed away at her home on Jan. 1, 2025. Norma was born the daughter of Norman and Edna (Gordon) Seacreas on May 28, 1953, in Kansas City, Kan. She attended and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School. Throughout her years of employment, she was a mental health aide at the Osawatomie State Hospital. Norma loved being outdoors doing yardwork; she was an avid animal/dog lover and enjoyed being with family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Long. Norma is survived by a daughter, Lisa Smith; a son, James “Jay” Long (Lela); two bonus daughters, LaDonna Sears and Terri Hartford; one grandson, Jordan Long, a granddaughter, Shelby Travison; and her six lovely dog babies. 

There are no services scheduled at this time. The family suggests memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project and may be mailed in care of the Schneider Funeral Home P.O. Box 525 Pleasanton, Kan. 66075. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.

Nobodys wins Blue Mound co-ed softball tournament

The team called Nobodys wins the Blue Mound 4th of July co-ed softball tournament on July 5. This year the tournament consisted of eight teams. The Nobodys is Keith Morrell’s team and has been a part of the softball tournament since it started three years ago.

Pleasanton 12-14 baseball wins championship

The Pleasanton 12-14 baseball team wins their league tournament on June 30 to July 1. Pleasanton hosted the tournament and won in the championship against La Cygne 11-7.
