Olan Fidelpha Finfrock, 101, of Mound City, Kan., died on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Life Care Center of Osawatomie. Olan was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Franklin Township, Bourbon County, Kan., to Bruce B. and Nancy Leota (Gregg) Baker. She was raised by her maternal grandparents.
On March 18, 1936, Olan married William Fredrick Finfrock at Paola, Kan. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1995.
Olan was a hardworking farm wife, who was extremely proud of her Scotch-Irish ancestry. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and knitting. She made many baby blankets and other gifts for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. While her health allowed, she was an active member of the Stitch and Chatter Club in Mound City.
In addition to her husband, Olan was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Paul; brother Bruce Baker; sister Erma Powell; half-brother Billy Baker; son-in-law Ron Cox; and daughter-in-law Faye Finfrock.
Survivors include one son, Jim Finfrock and wife Diane of Paola; two daughters, Nancy Cox of Mound City, and Sally Morse and husband Les of Centerville; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren; and her very special sister-in-law, Clara Peterson.
A funeral service was held Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial in Wesley Chapel Cemetery followed the service.
The family suggests contributions to Life Care Center of Osawatomie or Good Shepherd Hospice in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box J, Mound City, KS 66056. Friends and family may leave online condolences at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
