Patsy Lucille Smith, age 59, Pleasanton, Kan., passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by

family Sunday, July 31, 2022.

She was born on June 15, 1963, in Parsons, Kan., the daughter of George William (Bill) and Mary Jo (Jones) Spurgeon. She attended Pleasanton and Fort Scott schools, graduating

from Fort Scott High School.

She worked as a logistics coordinator for Wes’ Recycling until 2020. Patsy

was married to Dale Smith on May 23, 2009. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, trips to the casino, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and riding with Dale on scenic drives. Patsy liked to travel, especially

to visit her daughter or to see the ocean. No matter where she went, she never met a stranger; and if you knew Patsy, she doubtless has made you laugh more times than you can count, especially if you

probably shouldn’t have been laughing. Above all, family gatherings were her most treasured days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Tiff Spurgeon. Patsy is survived by her husband, Dale Smith; daughter, Tricia Stogsdill (John); three brothers, Kenneth Spurgeon (Stacie), Rick Spurgeon (Stacey), and Tony Spurgeon; three sisters, Vickie Chaplin (Rod), Terri Staton (Jeff) and Bobbi

Williams (Scott); as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Linn County Care to Share. Online condolences can be left at
