Paul D. Satchell, 83, of Bunker Hill, Kan., passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kan.

Paul was born March 13, 1938, in Centerville, Kan., the son of Ellsworth Paul and Lilly (Vickerstaff) Satchell. He grew up in Centerville and graduated from Parker High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962. After serving his country, he made his home in Topeka, Kan.

Paul was united in marriage to Judy (Wilson) Satchell on Sept. 10, 1982, in Olathe, Kan. They made their home in Edgerton, Kan., for 10 years, then Olathe for 11 years, before moving to Bunker Hill in 2000.  He worked in Bunker Hill in the Waste Water Management for 14 years.

Paul was a welder and worked for Kansas Gas Service for 32 years before retiring.  He was a member of the Bunker Hill Lions Club and a life member of the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240. He enjoyed tinkering on cars and trucks, doing odd jobs for friends and family, and spending time out in his shop.

Paul’s surviving family include his wife of 39 years, Judy of the home; son, Todd Satchell (Kelly); two grandsons Sean and Christopher of Parker, Kan.; sister, Becky Speicher of Russell, Kan.; and step brother, Lester Satchell of Russell, Kan.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kevin Satchell and Damond Satchell; and two brothers, Roy Satchell and Eddie Satchell.

A private family service will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
