Phyllis Ann (Kester) Tillotson, age 76, of Sugar Valley Lakes near Mound City, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at her home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born on Dec. 22, 1941, at Laramie, Wyo., the daughter of Adelbert and Georgia Dale (Henry) Kester. She married Kermit Tillotson in 1959.
Phyllis worked as an RN for 40 years in pediatrics at both St. Luke’s and St. John’s Hospitals in Kansas City. She worked in pediatric oncology and also helped with burn unit infants during her career.
She was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church. Phyllis loved going to their winter home in Texas where she was surrounded by many friends. Her passions included card games, cribbage and traveling.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Teddy Richardson.
She leaves behind her husband Kermit; a daughter, Kim Hall and husband Mike of Piper, Kan.; two sons, Travis and his wife Lori Tillotson of Mildred, Kan., and Shawn and his wife Missie Tillotson of Elephant Butte, N.M.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and beloved dog Jack.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at the Mound City United Methodist Church.
Friends and family may leave online condolences at www.schneiderfunerals.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Schneider Funeral Homes and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
