Roy D. Boner, age 79, of Pleasanton, Kan., passed away Tuesday, April 16, at Medicalodges of Nevada, Mo. He was born on April 1, 1940, at Spokane, Wash.

Roy served four years in the United States Marines. He had several jobs in his lifetime; a couple of them were as a trash truck driver and a mechanic at Cox Motor Co. in Pleasanton.

Roy enjoyed playing pool, fishing and spending time with family and friends. One of Roy's highlights in his life was being able to walk his daughter, Jennifer, down the aisle at her wedding to give her away last September.

Roy was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife Belva; and a daughter, Janice.

He was survived by eight children: daughters Tammy Bunce and husband Mark of Moran, Kan., Jennifer Garwood and husband Clayton of Walker, Mo., Angela Owens and husband Joe of Mission, Kan., Joyce Thompson and husband Sid of Garnett, Kan., Mary Ashburn and significant other, Joe, of Carbondale, Kan., Barbara Earls of Altus, Ark., and sons Richard A. Carey of Richmond, Kan., and Richard L. Carey of Westphalia, Kan.; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and his sidekick and friend, Scott Michels of Pleasanton, and many other friends.

Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
