Tammy Jean Fleming, 54, of Pleasanton, Kan., died on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at St. Joseph Medical Center after a long illness. Tammy was born Aug. 16, 1966, in Pinckneyville, Ill., to Gerald and Clara Mae (Thomas) Shrum. She graduated from Pleasanton High School as the valedictorian of the Class of 1984. On July 3, 1984, she married Curtis Lee Fleming in Pleasanton. Tammy enjoyed reading, going to the movies, traveling and going to casinos. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pleasanton. Tammy excelled at her chosen profession as a medical billing and coding specialist. 

Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Shrum.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis Fleming; two sons, Matthew and Marcus Fleming; one daughter, Megan Fleming; her mother and stepfather, Clara and Lesley Heflin; three brothers, Gerry Shrum, Jeff Shrum and Jason Heflin; and two half-brothers, Gregory Shrum and Brian Shrum.

A funeral for Tammy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the chapel. Burial will be in Pleasanton Cemetery, Pleasanton, Kan.
