Vina Lea Carr, age 70, of Blue Mound, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at St. Luke’s on the Plaza. She was born June 25, 1947, at Fredonia, Kan., the daughter of Tom and Ada Cather Payne. She graduated from Fredonia High School.
Vina married Jimmy Carr on Nov. 26, 1967, at Fredonia. They moved to Mound City in the late 1960s and ran a dairy for Belle and Bernal Adams. She worked for many years at Sugar Valley Nursing Home and for Judy Houtman Tillisch at her greenhouse.
She was a member of the Fredonia Christian Church, and attended the Mound City United Methodist Church. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, most of all. She was always helping others and lending a hand. She enjoyed playing bingo, and following Duke Mason with her niece Cindy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim on Sept. 2, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Howard Payne.
Vina is survived by her son, John Carr; daughter Christy Carr; and seven grandchildren, Danny, Jessie, Wyatt, Josie, Garrett, Sarah and Tucker.
Funeral service was held Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Mound City United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery.
