Vivian Lucile Bright, age 93, Pleasanton, Kan., passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. She was born in La Cygne, Kan., on April 4, 1928, the daughter of Raymond and Leona Dodge Vail. Vivian graduated from a one room school house in La Cygne. She was united in marriage to William Bright on Jan. 29, 1947. She was a housewife and raised eight children. She will be remembered for her old fashioned strawberry shortcake. She was an amazing cook and could cut up a whole chicken and fry it. She also made an amazing pineapple upside down cake.

Vivian is survived by two sisters, Fern Brashear and Joan Stinnette; eight children,  Janet (Jim) O’Brien, Roy (Kim) Bright, Gene (Carol) Bright, Charles (Denese) Bright, Dale Bright, Mary (Bob) Casey, Pam (Marty) Carroll, and Jeannie Kerr; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four infant siblings and Leland, Herschel and Herman Vail; a grandson, Eric O’Brien; and a great-grandson, Tyler. 

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in the Woodfin Cemetery. Vivian will lie in state Tuesday at the Schneider Pleasanton Chapel. Contributions are suggested to Integrity Hospice or Woodfin Cemetery, c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O.
