William Alvin “Bill” Good, 93, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, at home with his family by his side following a brief illness. Bill was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Merwin, Mo., to Ralph Russell and Hayden Frances (Williamson) Good. He married Donna Louise Stainbrook on Sept. 27, 1953, at the Stainbrook family farm and she survives of the home.

Bill grew up in Mound City, Kan., and graduated from Mound City High School with the Class of 1951. Following high school, he went into the U.S. Navy where he served four years and was stationed throughout the South Pacific, spending time in Guam, the Philippines, and in Japan aboard the USS Magoffin. He returned home in 1955 and began working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad (which later became the Union Pacific) in radio maintenance where he worked until his retirement in 1993 as a communication technician. Bill was a member of the Nevada Elks Lodge BPO#564.

In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by his children: Susan Deckard and her husband, the late J.R. Deckard, El Dorado Springs, Norma Simpson (David), Moundville, Michael Good (Arlene), Nevada, Barbara Good, Nevada, and Dana Ellis (Travis), Nevada; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Cornett, Kirk Simpson, Josh Deckard, Bethany Stewart, Miranda Bronson, Eric Good, Rilie Brandt, Zach Ellis, McKinley Ellis, and Cole Ellis; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church in Nevada with Pastor Laura Agee officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Committal will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada.

Memorials are suggested in his name to the First Presbyterian Church c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
