William Clark “Gable” McKay of Harrisonville Mo., formerly of Plattsburg, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021. He was born on July 26, 1939, and was raised by John and Nola Williams at Mound City, Kan. 

He was a graduate of Mound City High School class of 1957. He married Jennie Myers on May 17, 1958, in Mound City. They made their home in Kansas City for nine years while Gable worked for the Ford Plant. They later moved to Plattsburg, Mo., and Gable worked for TWA. They were blessed with five sons. 

Gable enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing, and was very involved with his sons’ activities such as Boy Scouts and sports teams.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his bothers, Doug, Carl and Jiggs; one sister, Joyce; and an infant son.  

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jennie McKay; his sons, Chris (Nancy), Troy (Julia), Eric (Michelle), Jeff (Shelly) and Brian (Angela); 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; one sister, Billie Faye Cox (Gerald); and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Healing farewell services was held Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at the Bailey & Cox Family Funeral Service, Plattsburg, Mo. Graveside service was Friday at the Woodland Cemetery in Mound City. The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Heart Association.
