William Lee Viner “Lee”, age 60 of La Cygne, Kan., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025.  Lee was born the son of William George, Jr., and Janice Lacey Viner in Great Bend, Kan., on June 4, 1964. He was a graduate of Great Bend High School in 1982. He received an associate’s degree from Barton County Community College where he was active in band, drummer for Hilltop Singers and FBLA. Lee was a salesman throughout his career and was the type of guy that could sell anything. In his early teenage years, he marched as a rifle in the Argonne Rebels Jr. Drum and Bugle Corps. Lee was an accomplished set drummer, a studio musician, worked at the Valley Arts and Guitar Center in Los Angeles, he also toured Europe with the French jazz violinist and composer, Jean-Luc Ponty and collected Cinematic memorabilia. 

He married Annette Scheufler on Jan. 19, 1992, in Great Bend, Kan., to this union two children were born, Megan and Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lee is survived by his wife, Annette, of the home; a daughter, Megan Viner; a son, Harrison Viner; half-brother, Ross Eugene Viner (Desi) of Wichita, Kan.; and a sister, Lisa Suchy (John) of Great Bend, Kan.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at the Schneider Funeral Home, La Cygne Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Meyer Music Band of Angels and may be sent in care of Schneider Funeral Home P.O. Box 525 Pleasanton, Kansas 66075.
