Four people were killed on the morning of Feb. 18, in a wreck just south of the Butler exit, north of the city of Pleasanton.
According to reports filed by the Kansas Highway Patrol , the vehicle, a 2019 Dodge Ram pickup, was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 69 when it hit a patch of ice, The driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled twice, landing on its roof. The report states the vehicle was located by emergency personnel on it’s roof and submerged in a flooded wildlife reserve area next to the roadway.
The driver, Larry Klingensmith, age 66, and his three passengers, Kimberly Klingensmith, 65; Nicolas Klingensmith, age 36; and Karly Klingensmith, age 32, all of Winnsboro, Texas, were killed in the accident. The bodies of the vehicle occupants were taken to Frontier Forensics in Kansas City. The vehicle was removed by RB Towing
