For the second time in a week, the USD 344 School District has closed their schools due to high numbers of students being out sick. According to Superintendent Travis Laver as of Thursday morning, Nov. 17, there were 127 students out sick. That’s roughly 35 percent of the student body population according to Laver. That's when the decision was made to close school on Friday, Nov. 18.

“The reports we are hearing are Influenza A and Strep are the main issues,” said Laver via email.

He then added that for the past week the district has been doing the same "extra" deep cleaning that was being enacted during the pandemic to combat the issue, including fogging the entire campus. The district plans to reopen school next week as usual.
