The commissioners met Tuesday due to the Labor Day holiday and paid bills in the amount of $179,582.23.

The sheriff’s monthly fee income report of $1,142.50 was approved. Sheriff Kevin Friend reported 35 prisoners in-house with 18 of those farmed in from other jurisdictions.

Friend sent a report to the commissioners that estimated next year’s income could reach $100,000 each month.

AMR Paramedic Supervisor Virgel Swanson reported 36 calls with 24 transports last week.

Fire Chief Randy Hegwald reported 19 calls week-to-date and 377 year-to-date. He said they are working with the county’s IT department to change the fire and emergency management phone number to a web system 800-number.

Public Works Director Shaun West reported a temporary project manager has been assigned to the Zenor Bridge project on the Wildlife area.

Botkin Road bridge project has been completed and the Hell’s Bend project is set to let bids April 19, 2023.

Propane bids were read with MFA bidding $1.75 per gallon for the first 10,000 gallons; also bidding was Ferrell Gas at $1.85, D&D Propane at $1.85, and C&J Propane at $1.80.

Pfefferkorn Engineering looked at a traffic issue at 600 Road dealing with speed around a bus stop and recommended clearing foliage at the corner and moving the bus stop ahead.

Dumping fees were mitigated for a house owned by Sue Duncan in La Cygne at 402 S. Broadway; part of the house collapsed requiring the rest of the house to be demolished.
