Meeting minutes from city of Pleasanton

 

The Pleasanton Special Council meeting was held at 1 p.m. via Zoom. Members present included Mayor Mike Frisbie, council members Rochelle Schreckhise, Joseph Whitaker, and Melanie Staton.  Also present were Public Works Director Joey Morrisey and City Administrator Teresa Whitaker.

Frisbie called the meeting to order at 1 p.m. 

Whitaker presented the bids from three separate companies that could complete boring of a 2” water line on 14th Street. 

BID 1 $4,893, Neil MacKay

BID 2 $8,750, Lee Chapman

BID 3 $15,500, North Central Service

Whitaker told the council that Atmos Energy is replacing a gas line in the same area and has agreed to let the city ‘piggyback’ with the contractor to put in our water line at a reduced cost per foot.  She stated that the replacement is not an emergency, but it is an affordable opportunity to replace the line as it wasn’t replaced during the water project of 2015.   The old cast iron line has been repaired many times already and it is just a matter of time before it springs a new leak.  She then stated that the bids do not include any additional costs that could be incurred if they hit rock.   She informed the council that Public Works has the equipment and knowledge to replace the line.  Joey Morrisey confirmed that they do have the ability to replace the line, but it would take much longer and it comes with the risk of hitting the gas line.

After discussion, Joe Whitaker moved to accept BID 1 from Neil Mackay in the amount of $4,893.  Melanie seconded.   All members voted in favor.  Motion carried 3-0.
