Betty Clark Avery, of Yakima, Wash., passed away at age 81, on Jan. 3, 2015, at the Arbor House in Yakima. Betty was born to Oliver and Mary Clark in Anthony, Kan., and was raised on a farm. She attended the one room school at Linnville before graduating from Mound City High School. After graduation, she married Charles Haverfield and had three sons.
She married J. R. Baucom and had one son. She moved to Missouri and Oklahoma before settling in Yakima where she married Sam Avery Sept. 4, 1991, and together they enjoyed dancing to country music and taking R.V. trips. Those to Kansas made special memories.
Betty enjoyed 12 years of working at the Yakima Valley Credit Union as a mortgage loan officer. She had a love for pets, and had quite a collection of owls, mice and turtles.
Betty is survived by her husband, Sam Avery of Yakima; a stepson, Chad of Portland, Ore.; Charlie Haverfield and wife Linda, Parker, Kan., Robert Haverfield and wife Sheila, Yakima, Steve Haverfield and wife Rose, Yakima, Jay Baucom and wife Carrie, Yakima; her brothers, Victor Clark and wife Jo , Centerville, Kan., Bud Clark and wife Carol, Mound City, Kan.; her sister, Darlene Youngblood and husband Larry, Fair Play, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Clark, St Paul, Kan.
Betty loved her grandkids, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Jan. 8, 2015, at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Moxee, Wash. Arrangements by Brookside Funeral Home. Memorials suggested, Hospice and Alzheimer Research.
