Willa Lou Querry passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at the age of 95.
Willa was born on Feb. 25, 1931, in Parker, Kan., to Luther and Elsie (Cornett) Brumley. She grew up in the Parker community and remained deeply connected to the area throughout her life. On Feb. 19, 1950, she married Clyde Querry. Together, they shared more than 44 years of marriage before Clyde preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1994.
Family was the center of Willa’s life. She found great joy in preparing meals for those she loved, tending her garden, sewing, painting, crafting, reading mystery novels, watching sports, and playing Canasta with family and friends. Her quick wit, playful humor, and well-timed zingers became family favorites, often leaving everyone laughing and creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. She generously gave her time and talents as a 4-H leader and was an active member of the Richland Grange, Cadmus Grange, and the Parker Historical Society. Her willingness to help others and her dedication to her community touched countless lives.
For 30 years, Willa served as a school cook, first at Prairie View High School and then Parker Grade School, where she became affectionately known as the community’s beloved “Lunch Lady.” Generations of students fondly remember her warm smile, caring nature, and especially her famous homemade cinnamon rolls.
In addition to her husband, Clyde, Willa was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Betty Brooks, Marjorie Milton, Donna Cottrell, Juanita Jones, and Verna Wright; her brother, Owen Brumley; three children, Charlotte Grimes, Nick Querry, and Rick Querry; two grandchildren, Sherry White and Stephanie Querry; and one great-grandchild, Dylan Querry.
She is survived by her children, Nancy White, Bruce Querry, Peggy Querry, Connie Kettler (Kevin), and Shelly Essl (Kary). She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren: Kristie, Kerry, Jamie, Rocky, Brian, Brent, Matthew, Andrew, Elizabeth, Simeon, Chelsie, Jason, Kyle, and Taylor; thirty great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Willa’s legacy is one of love, kindness, hard work, and devotion to family. She leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
