Deloris Marie Baldwin, age 88, formerly of Butler, Mo., passed away on Oct. 1, 2024, in Topeka, Kan. She was born the daughter of Orville Glen and Leora Ellington Brownback on Sept. 7, 1936, in Centerville, Kan. Deloris graduated from Parker High School and continued her education by obtaining an associate degree from Fort Scott Community College. She married Arnot Franklin Baldwin, Jr., on Feb. 1, 1953, at the Methodist Church in Parker, Kan. He preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2024.

Deloris and Frank lived on a family farm near Fontana, Kan., until their retirement when they moved to Missouri. Throughout her years, besides helping her husband run the farm, she worked as an office specialist in the accounting field. She held positions in agriculture, law enforcement, a seating manufacturing company and in state office administration. Deloris was very creative working with textiles. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing, and many family members and friends were gifted with her beautiful creations. She was a Cadmus 4-H leader as well as a judge at the county fairs. Early on while on vacation, Deloris noticed the Midwest did not have any 4-H exhibits in needlework. Deloris contacted the local county agent and together they worked with the National Yarn Crafters to set up workshops to teach 4-H project leaders in each county.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Glen Robert and Billy O. Brownback; daughter-in-law, Debra Baldwin; and granddaughter, Janelle Baldwin. She is survived by a son, George Baldwin; a daughter, Audrey Taylor; a sister, MaeDean Hodgson; five grandchildren, Jason Baldwin, Jacqueline Baldwin, Dalton Taylor (Brooke), Alec Taylor (Isabelle), Summer Taylor (Abel), three great-grandchildren, Richie Dobbs, Cory and Daryn Baldwin; nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 at the Elm Grove Cadmus Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Children's Hospital Burn Unit and may be sent in care of Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Box 525 Pleasanton, Kan. 66075. Online condolences may be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
