Wendell Wayne Eason of rural Hume, Mo., departed this life on Sept. 29, 2018, at his home at the age of 78 years. He was born the son of Myrtle (Lee) and Francis Eason on Aug. 26, 1940, in rural Eldorado Springs, Mo.

Wendell went to school at Eldorado Springs, Mo., where he played his passionate game of football. He loved reminiscing about his football days. He also played baseball as a pitcher for a minor league team (White Sox) until he hurt his arm, but even then he continued to pitch on local teams and cherished every minute of it.

Wendell and Gale were united in marriage on Nov. 13, 1967, in Butler, Mo., and to this union three children were born.

Wendell worked for Barr Ford for approximately four years then went into the dozing business for 46 years. He also had raised produce and crops since 1991. He loved to deer hunt with Gale and Brent. He also loved good food – probably bragged too much on Gale’s cooking, but she loved every minute of it.

Wendell is survived by his wife Gale of 50 years; a daughter, Lynn Willerton and husband Jesse, Archie, Mo.; a son, Brent Eason, rural Hume; two granddaughters, Ashley Still and husband Andy, Nebraska, and Leslie Cox, Germany; three brothers, Larry Eason and Gwen, Roger Eason and Joy, and Loren Eason and Sue; one sister, Brenda Widner; sister-in-law Judy Eason; and brothers- and sisters-in-law Stonie and Peggy Heckadon, Skip and Janice Heckadon, and Patsy and Bruce Buhr.

Wendell was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy; his parents; two brothers, W.D. and Gary; and a sister, Shirley Fairchild and her husband Claude.

Graveside services were held Monday, Oct. 1, at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Rich Hill, Mo.
