Addie L. Grigsby, age 83, a resident of rural Prescott, Kan., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, at Louisburg Healthcare and Rehab Center in Louisburg, Kan.

She was born May 1, 1938, in Springfield, Tenn., the daughter of John Edward Woodard and Daisy Mae Crow Woodard. Addie graduated from the Greenbrier High School in Greenbrier, Tenn. She met Arthur N. Grigsby on a blind date in Nashville, Tenn.  Art and Addie were married on June 30, 1957, at the Stewart Air Force Base in Smyrna, Tenn.

Addie was a devoted wife and mother. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior while talking with Cora Mae Collins at the Grace Baptist Tabernacle in Ft. Scott, Kan. She was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Mound City, Kan. Addie enjoyed refinishing furniture, gardening, canning, sewing and crocheting, as well as reading, singing and listening to music.

Survivors include her husband, Art, of the home; four children, Deborah Grigsby Lynch (Virgil) of Prescott, Melissa Brown (Lynn), Fort Scott, Arthur N. Grigsby Jr. (Kim), Prescott, and Tina Page (John), Cheyenne, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Becky Brady, of Madison, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 10 infant grandchildren; four sisters, Rose Meadows, Ruth MacArthur, Jeannie Copley and Doris Parks; and two brothers, Burton and David Woodard.

There was cremation. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2022, at the U. S. National Cemetery in Fort Scott. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, at the First Baptist Church of Mound City. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Mission Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, Kan. 66701.
