Aloma Anne Sterling, 78, was born Oct. 3, 1942, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Clifton and Gertrude Gillespie. They moved to the Midwest when she was about 9 years old. There she met Lee Breese Sterling, and they were married on May 2, 1960. They had six children: Okiya Shearer (Brad), Kevin Sterling, Atoya Bruns, Lee Sterling II (Kristy), Angeleta Pennington and Tanya Lillich; and one foster child, Carol Randall (Johnny). She worked as a waitress and factory worker, but is better known as a transportation driver.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lee; parents Gertrude and Clifton; sister Yvonne; brother Burl; and grandchildren Britney and Billy. She has 18 living grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 1, 2021, with service at 1 p.m., graveside following. Dinner for family and friends will be at VFW following. Arrangements by Charter Funerals, 10250 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Merriam, KS 66203.
