Carolyn Lee Wilson Dunlop, 80, passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2025. She was born Dec. 15, 1944, the eldest of four children. Carolyn spent her early years in Beagle, Kan., before her family moved to Parker, Kan., where she would raise her family and make lifelong friendships and memories.
During her school years, Carolyn was active and spirited, serving as a cheerleader, majorette, and later being honored as homecoming queen. She graduated from Parker High School in May of 1962. Growing up, she learned the values of hard work and creativity through gardening, sewing, and cooking—skills she carried with her throughout her life and later taught to her children, grandchildren, and many more.
A unique aspect of her life was the craftsmanship continually displayed in the many pieces of art bestowed on her loved ones.
On June 17, 1962, Carolyn married the love of her life, Charles (Charlie) Clayton Dunlop. She worked for the Parker Sewing factory until the birth of their first child in 1964, after which she dedicated her life to raising their three children: Doug, Darin, and Dierra. Carolyn was well known for her determination and unwavering work ethic. She stood proudly beside her husband, Charlie, in the orchard and on the farm as they worked together to build a business and legacy.
Carolyn’s life was defined by her love of family. She poured her heart into caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always making sure they felt cherished and supported. Her home was a place of gathering, where she cooked countless meals and created lasting traditions. Children and grandchildren often ‘raided the fridge’ on their visits to sample her leftovers or ever-present pan of baked goodies left on the counter for guests. She also had a deep love for her friends, nurturing sisterhoods that spanned decades. Her warmth and kindness made everyone feel welcome at her table and in her life.
Equally strong was her love of community. Carolyn was active in her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, the Parker United Methodist church, and many charitable organizations. Sewing and quilting brought her joy, and she used her gifts to serve others — belonging to several quilting groups and lovingly creating quilts for veterans and for those in need. She gave her time and talents generously, leaving her community better through her acts of service.
In later years, Carolyn and Charlie enjoyed spending winters in Texas, where she made many friends. She cherished family gatherings, celebrated milestones, and delighted in the laughter of children and grandchildren. Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and devotion to family, friends, and community.
Carolyn is survived by her children Douglas C (Pam), Darin L (Teah) and Dierra L. (Pete Willey); 12 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
She leaves behind not only beautiful quilts, but also a life woven with care, kindness, and love. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her faith assures us she is now at peace, joyfully reunited with loved ones who have gone before her and resting in the arms of her Savior.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at the Parker United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Eddy Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie, Kan.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Triko or Prairie View Educational Foundation; send c/o Eddy Birchard Funeral Home P.O. Box 430, Osawatomie, Kan. 66064.
