John Dean Murrow, age 80, Blue Mound, Kan., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 23, 1938, in Blue Mound, the son of Eldon David and Vera Dudley Murrow. He graduated from Blue Mound High School.
He married Jeannie Murrow on Sept. 11, 1960. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2014. He later married Barbara Miller Yates on Nov. 28, 2015.
Dean worked at Taylor Forge before retiring. After retirement, Dean engaged full time in ranching. He liked to garden, go dancing, and sports, especially KU basketball and the Kansas City Royals.
Dean is survived by his wife Barbara; a son, Dale Murrow and Janelle; two daughters, Pamela Knopp and Jeff, and Stacy Murrow and Betsy; five grandchildren, Dillon Knopp and Lindsey, Griffin Knopp and Danelle, Mason Knopp, and Garrett and Josie Murrow; and two great grandchildren, Renley and Cason Knopp.
Funeral service was Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial was in the Sunny Slope Cemetery.
