June Marie Shepherd, 83, of Mound City, Kan., was born, June 11, 1939, in Pleasant Hill, Mo., the daughter of Roy Frank and Edna Lucille (Kavanaugh) Springer. She departed this life, Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at her home surrounded with love and family.
June grew up and attended school in Pleasant Hill, Mo.
On September 2, 1968, she was united in marriage to Raymond Ross Shepherd in Clinton, Mo.
He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 2015.
June was a homemaker and wonderful mother. When she was younger, she enjoyed dancing, boating, fishing, and traveling. Later in life she enjoyed reading, planting flowers, puzzles, her dogs and cats, playing cards and dominos, coloring on her phone app, and holidays (especially Christmas).
Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
June was also preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Roscoe G. Enzor; one great-grandchild, Chloe; siblings, Glenn Springer, Amos Springer, Robert Springer, Gail Springer, Loren Springer, Thelma Scott, and Delores Duck.
She is survived by one son, Rick (and Gwen LawRance) Peek of Louisburg, Kan.; one daughter, Dena Shipley of Mound City; six grandchildren, Tom Shipley, Brian (and Nicole) Shipley, Chad (and Kathy) Shipley, Katie (and Klayton) Parscale, Nicholas (and Melanie) LawRance, and Michael (and Kasaundra) LawRance; eleven great-grandchildren, Brennan, Hailey, Maddox, Anthony, Logan, Liam, Colin, Ella, Blake, Beau, and Adrianne; one brother, Wayne Springer of Harrisonville, Mo.; one sister, Eileen Gordon of Chillicothe, Mo.; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Bill Knoffke officiated. Burial was in the Staley Mound Cemetery. Casket bearers were Nicholas LawRance, Brennan Gardner, Klayton Parscale, Rick Peek, Chad Shipley, and Tom Shipley. Honorary casket bearer was Brian Shipley.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mound City Public Library and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
