Charles Edward Rhynerson Sr., age 93, La Cygne, Kan., passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at his home near La Cygne. He was born on April 20, 1924, at La Cygne, the son of Frank Theodore Sr. and Nannie Mae Driskill Rhynerson.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was deployed overseas after he married Ruth Smith on April 18, 1944. He was a tactical sergeant serving in the infantry. He was injured in the Battle of Cebu Island and earned a purple heart and a bronze star.
After being discharged from the army, he worked in the International Union of Elevator Constructors for 26 years. He then ran his electric company, Charles Ed Electric, from 1974-2010.
Charles was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, American Legion and Kansas Old Time Fiddlers and Pickers.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lawrence, Ralph, Jim and Frank; a sister, Ruth Bullock; an infant sister, Martha; and a great grandchild.
Charles is survived by his wife Ruth; a son, Charles Rhynerson Jr. and Deborah; two daughters, Beverly Smith and J. Ronald, and Barbara Rhynerson; a brother, Oscar, three sisters, Wilma Stainbrook, Alice Rose and Pearl Scott; five grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and five great, great grandchildren.
Funeral service was Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the Calvary Baptist Church. Burial was in the Star Valley Cemetery.
