Mary Margaret Wilson of Mound City, Kan., age 95, was called home to be with the Lord Oct. 13, 2025. She resided at the Anew Healthcare facility in Pleasanton, Kan. She was born in La Cygne, Kan., to Edwin Josheph Riley and Eva Bartlett Riley on Jan. 8, 1930.
She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Elton Wilson on July 23, 1949. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents, father-in law Elton D. Wilson and wife Jennie H. Alexander Wilson; two sisters Esta Brown Martin and Irene Chandler Smitheran; a sister-in-law Jeanette Wilson Headrick and husband Lewis. She is survived by one son, Edwin D. Wilson and wife Kathi; two grandsons, Jeffery D. Wilson and wife Misty, and Ryan W. Wilson and wife Tammy; five great-granddaughters, Kylie Jackson and husband Jeremy, Bailey Hall and husband Dakota, Sophia Haupt and husband Ryan, Ryleigh Wilson and fiancé Joey, and Cecelia Wilson; also, nine great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and Joy. She loved going to family get togethers.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mound City and loved her church family. She volunteered at Concern for several years. She loved to play golf, travel and camp and was a member of the singles group called Loners on Wheels and camped with them for many years. During her working years she worked for King Super Groceries in Colorado Springs, Colo., Woolston Chevrolet in Mound City and Selective Service in Mound City and later in Fort Scott. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Lady’s Golf Association and the Rainbow Club.
Services will be Friday Oct. 17, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Mound City. Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. followed by service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Mound City. Contributions are to the First Baptist Church of Mound City or the Harry Hynes Hospice.
