Maxine Y. Johnson, age 77, Pleasanton, Kan., passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019, at The Residencies at Pleasanton. She was born on Sept. 5, 1941, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of William Corwin and Josephine McGlathery Pointer. She was a graduate of Pleasanton High School.

Maxine was united in marriage to Francis L. Johnson on Sept. 5, 1959. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1975.

Maxine worked hard to support her family. She worked at King Radio, Henkle Egg Co., North Dairy Curl, a local bar, the Tip Toe Inn and retired from Dayco.

She delivered Meals on Wheels. She liked to crochet. And nothing got in her way if it was bingo night.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Pete Pointer.

Maxine is survived by two daughters, Brenda Johnson and Jana Shrum and husband Gerry; a brother, Joe Pointer and wife Linda; a sister-in-law, Ruby Pointer; four grandchildren, Cody, Dalton, Jessica and Nicholas; and two great grandchildren, Brooke and Wyatt.  

Funeral service was scheduled for 5:30 p.m. June 4, 2019, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel, with visitation from 4 p.m. to service time. Burial will be at a later date in the Pleasanton Cemetery.
