ACCIDENT REPORTS
On 06-05-2025, Morgan A. Northcutt, Mound City, was traveling westward on Kansas Highway 31 when a deer entered the roadway and struck the front left corner of the vehicle. The impact caused plastic damage and did not cause operational vehicle damage. (Case 250519)
On 06-09-2025, Benjamin C. Aude, Osawatomie, was heading southward on 1077 approximately 0.4 miles north of 1100 Road and hit a deer. (Case 250529)
On 06-09-2025, Julie A. Bruington, Olathe, was traveling northward on US 69 Highway at approximately mile marker 85 when three deer entered the roadway from the east ditch. The driver struck the last deer, and the impact caused disabling damage to the vehicle. Air bags were deployed. There was extensive damage to the front left corner of the vehicle and pieces of the deer were attached to the frame of the vehicle. The radiator was leaking a large amount of fluid. The vehicle was towed from the scene. (Case 250534)
On 06-13-2025, Jared D. Ellis, Blue Mound, was parked facing northward on County Road 1077 near 1325 Road, waiting on a train, when a vehicle driven by Brandon A. Denman, Mound City, hit the back bumper of Ellis’ vehicle, causing damage to the bumper and right rear fender. No damage was sustained by Denman’s vehicle. (Case 250544)
On 06-14-2025, Paul C. Ellsworth was traveling southward on US 69 Highway when the vehicle left the roadway to the left and traveled into the median, where it jumped a raised grass cross over, causing damage to the front bumper and radiator, and possibly more under carriage damage. The passenger was transported to the hospital by a family member. (Case 250547)
On 06-14-2025, Kimberly Huebert, Amoret, Mo., was traveling eastward on Kansas Highway 52 near Wakefield Road when a deer entered the roadway and struck the vehicle. The crash disabled the front right headlight and caused all fluids to leak from the vehicle, disabling it. Upon arrival the officer observed debris scattered along the shoulder behind the parked vehicle. The officer then dispatched the deer that caused the crash due to injuries obtained from the crash. No injuries were sustained by the driver. The vehicle was towed from the scene. (Case 250550)
On 06-15-2025, Tamara Garrett, Blue Mound, was traveling southward on County Road 1077 just north of West 1000 Road when she struck a deer in the roadway. (Case 250552)
On 06-118-2025, Brian C. Knoll, Austin, Tx, was in the process of parking at the top of the hill on Leah Drive when he stepped out of the vehicle and did not place it in the park. The vehicle rolled down the hill and hit a mailbox before coming to rest in a fence. (Case 250560)
On 06-18-2025, Cody M. Evans, Pleasanton, was traveling eastward on 1200 Road near Vernon Road when a deer entered the roadway. The Driver was unable to miss the deer, resulting in an accident. (Case 250563)
On 06-20-2025, Kelsi M. Earnest, Centerville, was traveling southward on County Road 1077 near 200 Road when two deer struck her vehicle while she was driving. (Case 250573)
On 06-21-2025, Cathleen L. Grimm, Blue Springs, Mo., was traveling eastbound on Kansas Highway 152, and attempting to negotiate the curve on the highway at Long Road. Due to rate of speed, the driver lost control on the curve, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, where it struck a tree with its front tire before rolling over on its side. The driver sustained injuries to the face and her right side. (Case 250578)
On 06-23-2025, Santa S. Tatman, Osawatomie, was traveling westward on Kansas Highway 152 when she struck a deer in the roadway. (Case 250583)
On 06-25-2025, Noah K. Gerken, Paola, was traveling northward on County Road 1077 at West 700 Road when a vehicle driven by Kesten D. Watson, Blue Mound, pulled out from a stop sign and struck Gerken’s vehicle, causing it to come to rest in a ditch on the northeast part of the intersection. Gerken was towing a trailer which sustained front-end damage that disabled the vehicle and disabling damage to the rear end from the trailer. The vehicle driven by Watson continued to travel eastward and pulled into a driveway. Watson’s vehicle sustained functional damage. Both drivers were valid, uninjured and driving for employers. On 06-27-2025, Carlos W. Hendricks, La Cygne, was traveling via motorcycle eastward on Kansas Highway 152 near County Road 1095 when he lost control of his cell phone while operating the motorcycle. While attempting to regain control of the motorcycle, Hendricks crossed the center line and swiped the left side of a truck driven by Kaden W. Walker, La Cygne. The handlebars from the motorcycle scratched the driver door down to the bed of the truck and struck the rear driver’s side tire and deflated it. The oil pan from the motorcycle began to leak and spilled oil across the highway. Hendricks refused medical treatment and was cited for no motorcycle endorsement. (Case 250596)
On 06-28-2025, Stacie L. Mead, Moran, was traveling southward on US 69 Highway near the 97-mile marker and struck a deer in the roadway, rendering the vehicle inoperable. (Case 250597)
On 06-29-2025, John Edwards was traveling westward on Kansas Highway 152 near Taylor Road when a deer entered the roadway, striking the front of the vehicle. The front grille was caved in with deer hair present. The vehicle did become disabled in the roadway and was towed from the scene. (Case 250604)
On 06-30-2025, Blayne J. Peterson, La Cygne, was traveling westward on 220 Road near Valley Road when a vehicle operated by Victor O. Pacheco Lemus, Kansas City, pulled out in front of Peterson, causing the accident. Lemus fled the accident scene. (Case 250608)
On 07-02-2025, Huntr D. Lasley, Independence, Mo., was traveling on Kansas Highway 152 signaling to turn onto Maddox Road when a vehicle operated by Travis J.R. Brockway, Red Oak, Tx., went to pass him. Lasley began to turn, causing Brockway to run into the back left corner of Lasley’s vehicle, causing significant damage to Brockway’s vehicle. Both vehicles were able to drive away after the incident. (Case 250613)
On 07-03-2025, Spencer D. Neale, Manvel, Texas, was traveling southward on US 69 Highway when around 1100 Road exit, he struck a deer. (Case 250619)
On 07-04-2025, Molly S. Longhofer, Overland Park, was traveling northward on US 69 Highway near the Kansas Highway 52/850 Road exit, when she struck a deer. (Case 250621)
On 07-11-2025, Joyce M. Schull, Parker, was traveling eastward on 2200 Road near Campbell Road when she fell asleep. The vehicle crossed the center of the roadway and went off the road to the left, where the vehicle struck part of a concrete culvert and went through a fence line before coming to rest on its wheels. The driver was taken by a family member to the hospital prior to sheriff’s deputy’s arrival. (Case 250--)
On 07-12-2025, Frans Grotsius, La Cygne, was traveling northward on County Road 1095 near 1650 Road when the driver ran off the road to the right, over corrected and ran off the road to the left, causing the vehicle to roll. Both driver and passenger refused EMS on scene. (Case 250646)
On 07-12-2025, Riley N. Lawrance, Parker, was traveling westward on County Road 1077 near Farlin Road when she lost control of the vehicle and swerved to the north and entered the north ditch before coming to rest facing southward. The vehicle sustained disabling damage. No injuries reported. (Case 250647)
